Homewood-Flossmoor Students' Work to Be Featured in Regional Art Show

Seven Homewood-Flossmoor High School students recently learned that their work had been selected for inclusion in the Illinois High School Regional Art Exhibition. This event will be held at Zhou B Art Center, which is located in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

• David Woods - Drawing
• Haley Atherton, Film
• Marcus Lee, Film

The exhibition opens on Sunday, March 1, with the show taking place from 2 to 6 p.m. It is expected to feature the work of more than 325 students from 60 (or more) high schools in the Chicagoland area. More than 2,500 people are expected at the exhibition’s opening. Last year, more than 90 students received at least one college scholarship offer after taking part in the event.

The goal of the Illinois High School Regional Art Exhibition is to bring together the diversity of city and suburban high school art students and to unify the arts through a common goal, a common experience, and a common perspective.

It provides a public platform for the range and beauty of student work, promotes an artistic community of peers and professionals, celebrates the importance of art in education, and reinforces the power of art in students’ lives. For more information, visit www.ihsae.org.
