HOMEWOOD IMPROV GROUP SMEARED TO APPREAR AT 20th CHICAGO IMPROV FESTIVAL MARCH 27-APRIL 2

Smeared Inc., an improv group from Homewood, is scheduled to appear at the 20th annual Chicago Improv Festival, happening March 27-April 2.

Chicago, Ill. – Smeared Inc., an improv group made up of three south suburban residents, will be appearing at the Chicago Improv Festival, taking place March 27-April 2.

Smeared Inc. is an improvised podcast that has produced more than 60 episodes since it was founded in 2014. In each show, Smeared Inc. combines the antics of a comedy radio show with the theatrics of an improv show. At the Chicago Improv Festival, the group will be doing a brief interview a guest from the Chicago improv community who will educate the audience about how improv works, followed by the foursome performing an improv set.

The group is made up of Josh Blair, Kate Anderson Wiersema and Sean Conroy, and they have previously performed live at improv festivals in Champaign, IL; Madison, WI; and St. Louis, MO. They will be performing on Thursday, March 30 at 10 p.m. at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago.

About The Chicago Improv Festival

The Chicago Improv Festival was co-founded by Jonathan Pitts and Frances Callier in 1998 as an educational forum. The festival teaches the art of improv, the history of and the potential for innovation within the art form to students of the craft, professional improv artists and the public. While other improv festivals exist around the world, the Chicago Improv Festival is the only festival that has been created solely for the purposes of documenting, promoting and teaching improv as an art form. The founding of the organization in Chicago, speaks to the organization's commitment to the legacy of improv and promoting that legacy to others. CIF is now seen as the largest and most prestigious improv festival in the world, as well as a model for other improv festivals.
