Humane Society Waives Adoption Fees for Veterans, Every Day of the Year
Veterans can bring a family into their lives any day of the year, without paying the adoption fee.

South Suburban Humane Society has waived adoption fees for veterans on Veterans Day—and every other day of the year.
In keeping with its tradition going three years strong, shelter staff reminds veterans that animals are available to join their family with no adoption fee applied. Veterans need only provide proof of service at the time of adoption.
“We believe that pets are therapy,” staff wrote on the shelter’s Facebook page. “We believe that we owe a profound debt of gratitude to our veterans every day and not just on one day a year. We believe that adopting a pet from a shelter to someone who needs that pet saves two lives.
