Country music legend Larry Gatlin will bring his performing and songwriting talents to the center stage spotlight at Theatre at the Center in Munster for two special acoustic concerts on Saturday, June 10 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Combining his artistic and songwriting talents with stories from a career that spans 61 years, Larry will perform fan favorites such as “All the Gold in California”, hits that have garnered some of the most prestigious awards in the music industry.

From Las Vegas to the famed Grand Ole Opry stage, Larry toured from 1976 to 1992 with his brothers Steve and Rudy as well as country music queen Dottie West. Larry penned every Gatlin Brothers hit and still tours with his brothers. In 2015 the brothers released “The Gospel According to Gatlin” as a tribute to their 60 years of sibling success. Larry also wrote many songs later made famous by Elvis Presley, Glen Campbell, Barbra Streisand, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Charlie Rich and Johnny Mathis.

Larry Gatlin was born in 1948 in Seminole, Texas to the son of a driller in the oil field. The oldest of three Gatlin brothers, he was by age seven, already accompanying younger brothers, Steve and Rudy in singing at family and church events. After high school, Larry went to the University of Houston on a football scholarship. He majored in English and developed a love affair with the English Language that later served him well in his songwriting.

A major turning point in his career came along when Larry took the lead role on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning musical “The Will Rogers Follies”.

Larry currently resides in Nashville with Janis, his wife for the past 44 years. They are the proud parents of two children, Josh and Kristin and “Papa” to Kristin’s daughters, Parker and Campbell.
