Local Hero Will Be Honored During Homewood 4th Of July Parade
Stephen Roman, a U.S. Navy serviceman home from a tour in the Pacific, will be honored at the Homewood Independence Day Parade.

HOMEWOOD, IL - A U.S. Navy serviceman from Homewood will be home for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday and will be honored during the village's parade that day. Stephen Roman has returned home from a tour in the Pacific Ocean, according to a news release from the village of Homewood.
Roman will be honored during the 2018 Homewood Independence Day Parade, which kicks off from Dixie Highway at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The route of the parade will follow Dixie south toward Ridge Road, where it will turn east and head to the Izaak Walton Preserve.
Entries in this year's parade include several local service groups, businesses, bands, horses, stilt walkers, clowns and a variety of decorated floats.

As is the practice with many 4th of July parades across the country, those on many of the floats will throw candy for the kids and carry super soakers for summertime fun.
A Family Fun Fest at the Izaak Walton Preserve will follow the parade.
