Mission Accomplished: HF Boys Golf Headed to State

Boys golf off to state

The Homewood-Flossmoor High School’s Boys Varsity Golf team has reached their season goal of qualifying as a team for the state tournament. The boys placed third in Monday’s sectional match at Balmoral Country Club in Crete, scoring a total of 313 points. It was a close finish with Providence Catholic earning top honors with a total of 312 points and Normal Community placing second, actually tying HF’s 313 points. HF then had to settle for third after losing in a score card tie breaker. Getting the job done for HF was Jack Mulligan with a 75, Jack Calderone, 78, Preston Gennett, 79 and Kevin Steiner, 81. Also going to state are Ted Wick and Brent Hughes. This is the first trip to state as a team for HF since 2009. The state tournament will be held this Friday and Saturday in Bloomington at The Den. The team is coached by Chris Stiglic and Craig Bowen.
