Mom Captures Homewood Cop's Kind Gesture on Halloween

Cold and rain couldn't keep this family from trick-or-treating, and this mom is so happy they went.

A local family braved the cold and rain for trick-or-treating, and experienced a touching moment with Homewood police.

Kassandra Alvarado was in search of sweets when she spotted a cop car with lights flashing, but what came next is not what most would expect.

“I witnessed a beautiful thing today,” Alvarado wrote on Facebook. “That not all police officers are bad or have bad intentions. ... We seen a cop car with lights flashing towards us and first thing we think is what did we do?

“Well to our surprise a nice young police officer comes out with candy. And she walks over to our children and gives them candy. So not only were they patrolling the area for safety but stopping to give children that still wanted to trick or treat for candy. That was heartwarming.”
