'One of the Great Guys', Flossmoor Architect Scott Gummerson Dies at 56
Gummerson died last week. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23.

An architect whose work is on display throughout Flossmoor died May 12 from complications due to acute myeloid leukemia.
Flossmoor resident Scott Gummerson was known for his ability to seamlessly blend old and new, incorporating clients’ design ideas while also maintaining integrity of the building and neighborhood. He designed at least 500 homes in Flossmoor. He was 56 years old.
Gummerson also worked for the village for over 20 years, “dedicated to making sure building in Flossmoor was done right.” A “trivia master,” he was also known as an overachiever, “there to help, even before you asked. Instantly and forever likeable, patiently understanding, he was a guy that heard you; a guy you just always liked running into.”

He and wife Gigi met while working as marshals at the Western Open at Butler National. Together they raised son Mitchell and daughter Gwendolyn. Gummerson loved the family’s three dogs Keno, Dudley and Spencer. (And his Donald Duck impression could not be beaten.)
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, at Infant Jesus of Prague Church, 1101 Douglas Ave. in Flossmoor.
