Parker Cross-Country Girls, Boys Qualify for IESA State Meet

Parker Jr. High runners became 1 of 3 (3A) schools to have their girls and boys both qualify for state the past 4 years.

Parker Jr. High's cross-country team competed in the IESA Cross Country Sectional meet (along with James Hart) on Saturday, at Apollo Park in Homewood.

In the girls race, the Parker girls placed 3rd to earn their 4th straight trip to the IESA State Meet in Normal, Illinois. Naima Douglas (6317 - below) was the Sectional Champion, running two miles in 12:24. Grace Mullin (6322- below) was also All-Sectional running 12:56.

In the boys race, the Parker boys placed 1st to earn their 5th straight trip to the IESA State Meet in Normal, Illinois. Habtamu Epley (6329 - below)was the Sectional Champion in a course record time of 11:03. John Hockenberry (6330 - below) placed 2nd in 11:20, Damarion Best (6325 - below) placed 8th (All Sectional) in 12:08, and Matthius Douglas (6327 - below) placed 10th (All Sectional) in 12:15.
