Parker Junior High to Present Spring Musical 'Once on This Island'
Performance set for April 24.

Students of Parker Junior High are busy rehearsing their dance moves and polishing their musical numbers, for their spring musical set to debut soon.
The cast and crew will present ’Once Upon This Island’. The one-act musical with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty is based on the 1985 novel “My Love, My Love”; or, “The Peasant Girl” by Rosa Guy. It is set in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. The show includes elements of the “Romeo and Juliet” story and elements of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Little Mermaid.” It concerns a peasant girl on a tropical island, who uses the power of love to bring together people of different social classes. Originally directed and choreographed on Broadway by Graciela Danielle.
The curtain will go up at the junior high, 2810 School Street in Flossmoor, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 24. Tickets are $4 for adults, and $2 for seniors, and students with ID. Children under 3 are free.
