Matteson Woman, 23, Killed In Hit-And-Run ID'd: Medical Examiner
The woman was a pedestrian and was found unresponsive around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — A Matteson woman killed in a hit-and-run accident Friday morning in Flossmoor has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Aaliyah Leonard, 23, was found unresponsive at the scene of an apparent hit-and-run at 196th and Governors Highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
At approximately 9:30 a.m. Feb. 9, Flossmoor Police and Fire departments were called to Governors Highway to investigate a "possible hit-and run fatal accident involving a pedestrian," said Village of Flossmoor Communications Manager Nicole Castagna.

"A female victim was found unresponsive near the road at 196th Street and Governors Highway this morning," said Flossmoor Police Chief Jerel Jones.
"Emergency teams responded from the Village of Flossmoor and determined the victim to be deceased. Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the victim of this tragedy."

A portion of Governors Highway was closed during the investigation, the Village said. It had reopened by Friday afternoon.
Flossmoor police are investigating, along with Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (S.M.A.R.T.).
