Prescription Drug Box Will Stay At Homewood Police Station

Drop off unused and expired prescription drugs at the Homewood police station.

HOMEWOOD, IL - The Homewood police station will now have a permanent collection box for unused, unwanted and outdated prescription drugs. Anyone can drop off old drugs in the box located in the lobby of the police station at 17950 Dixie Highway with no questions asked, according to a news release from the village of Homewood.

"This is a great way to dispose of unwanted and expired drugs," the village wrote. "Disposing drugs at the collection site will help prevent people from taking the wrong prescriptions, keep drugs out of the wrong hands, and keep out of our water systems."

The box was provided to Homewood by the Cook County Sheriff's Office, which will dispose of the materials for free.
