Progress Continues on Flossmoor Meijer Store

The Meijer Superstore in Flossmoor is beginning to take shape, as the walls are set into place.

The 192,000-square-foot store at the corner of Vollmer Road and Crawford Avenue is the first development of this size in the village since the construction of Flossmoor Commons in the 1970s, according to the village’s newsletter. Meijer officials first approached Flossmoor in 2007 about a retail opportunity at the Vollmer Road location, which was appealing because of its proximity to Interstate 57 as well as the distance from other retail markets in Matteson and Homewood.

The store will be a 24-hour facility that will sell groceries and general merchandise, and have a pharmacy and a garden center.
