Repeat Menard's Thief Resisted Arrest, Cops Say

A Chicago Heights man is accused of stealing from the same Menard's store twice.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A Chicago Heights man faces several charges after police in Homewood say he stole from the Menard's store on Halsted Street on two different occasions in a matter of weeks. Taylor Lee, 36 was charged with two counts of retail theft, criminal damage to property and resisting a peace officer on Dec. 9. He's accused in thefts reported on Nov. 26 and Dec. 9.

At 11:31 a.m. on Nov. 26, police say Lee left the Mendard's at 17545 S. Halsted without paying for items valued at $279.99. He wasn't charged until Dec. 9 at 2:19 p.m., according to police, when he left the same store without paying for items valued at $9.99.

When he was confronted by a police officer who tried to put him in handcuffs, police say Lee pulled his arms away, struggled with officers and "did not comply with verbal commands."

He also damaged a watch as he resisted arrest, police said.
