1 Dead, Teen Wounded In Park Forest Shooting

A 22-year-old man is dead and a 17-year-old boy hospitalized with serious injuries after a shooting on Western Avenue.

PARK FOREST, IL — A 22-year-old Chicago man was killed and a 17-year-old boy from Park Forest seriously wounded in a shooting that occurred on Western Avenue in Park Forest on Thursday, police said.

Park Forest police responded to the scene in the 23400 block of Western around 4 p.m. and found the fatal victim "unresponsive" with a gunshot wound to the head.

Both victims were taken to Franciscan Health St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed a death but had not yet been identified the fatal victim as of Thursday night.
