Scare Away Hunger with You Matter 2

You Matter 2 (YM2) is a youth philanthropy group consisting of teens from the Homewood Flossmoor area. We are teens who are inspiring and empowering other youth to be world changers. You Matter 2 was established in October 2014, since then we have grown this past year from 25 to 50 members. Teens involved in YM2 have a desire to make a change locally and globally. YM2 partakes in many different volunteer opportunities, we held a car wash in August to raise money to buy school supplies for children in the area. We were able to give out over 1,000 school supplies to children at Heather Hill Elementary School, Parker Junior High School, and at Harvey’s Back to School Fun Fair.

This Halloween Season, we are doing more to get our community involved by hosting a We Scare Hunger Trail. We are hosting this trail to fight hunger locally because in Illinois, 1 in 7 people are food insecure - meaning that they are at risk of hunger and lack access to adequate access to the food they need to lead healthy, active lives. Hunger and poverty is a very serious issue here in Illinois. You can tackle the problem by coming out and supporting our trail! The We Scare Hunger Trail will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 4:30pm-7:30pm at Apollo Park in Homewood, IL. The admission into the trail is 3 or more non-perishable items per person. All items will be donated to Respond Now, a local food bank in Chicago Heights.

Our We Scare Hunger Trail is tackling many different issues, and one being hunger. With your support and participation you can help us scare away hunger here in Chicago!
