Shoplifter Has Second Thoughts after Buddy Gets Arrested
Chicago man with sticky fingers gets cold feet.

A 20-year-old man who had snuck clothing out of Kohl’s tried to turn back once he saw his buddy get arrested for doing the same.
But the real-time after-school special played out a few minutes too late for the pair.
Deontae Allison, of the 7800 block of Champlain Avenue, Chicago, and Devin Dawson, 19, of the 22500 block of Lawndale Avenue in Richton Park were arrested and charged with retail theft after being accused of shoplifting about $200 worth of clothing Jan. 11 from Kohl’s, according to Homewood police reports.

Police spotted Dawson at about 2:45 p.m. while he was sitting in a maroon Taurus in the parking lot of Kohl’s, 17620 S. Halsted St., the report stated. He was found with $149 worth of clothing from the store that he was accused of stealing, the report added.
When Allison saw police taking Dawson into custody, he ducked back into the store, into a fitting room and began peeling off the clothing he had stolen. He must have missed some, because when police took him into custody they found about $50 worth of merchandise.
