If you have just two hours a week to spare, you can make a profound difference. Delivering meals fits seamlessly into a midday routine or lunch break. As a volunteer driver, you do far more than hand over a meal; you provide a friendly smile, a warm conversation, and a crucial safety check for a senior who might not see anyone else that day. We offer flexible scheduling that allows you to volunteer weekly, monthly, or as part of a team with coworkers or friends. Our Core Programs: Home-Delivered Meals: We provide hot, dietitian-approved meals delivered directly to the doorsteps of those who cannot cook or shop for themselves. Community Cafes: Beyond home delivery, our vibrant Community Cafes offer a welcoming space for active older adults to gather, enjoy a delicious lunch, socialize, and build meaningful friendships that combat senior isolation. HOMEWOOD, IL — South Suburban PADS (SSPADS) will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the opening of its expanded footprint at 950 W. 175th St., Homewood. This expansion "represents a major milestone in SSPADS' mission to provide shelter, supportive services, and pathways to housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout the Southland," the organization said in a release. The additional space enables SSPADS to serve more people with dignity and compassion while addressing the growing need for integrated housing, health, and supportive services. The ceremony will include remarks from SSPADS leadership and community partners, a facility tour, and opportunities to learn more about the impact of this expansion. Several elected officials will attend, along with community leaders, partners, supporters, and neighbors, as all come together to mark the exciting new chapter for South Suburban PADS and the thousands of individuals and families the organization serves each year.
