Drone Photos Show Damage At Dairy Queen After SUV Crash
An overnight crash into the Dairy Queen in Homewood had a section of Ridge Road closed for hours.
HOMEWOOD, IL — An SUV crashed into the Dairy Queen in Homewood early Tuesday morning, closing the section of Ridge Road between Highland and Ashland avenues for hours as police began an investigation into the crash.
Homewood police responded to the restaurant in the 1700 block of Ridge Road at 3:27 a.m., when they found the car crashed into the east side of the building near the intersection of Ridge and Gladville Avenue. The driver of the car had to be extricated by emergency responders while a passenger was able to get out on their own.
Both occupants of the car were hospitalized. Police say the nature and severity of their injuries is not yet known as of noon on Tuesday.

Several aerial photos were taken from the scene. NBC Traffic reporter Mike Lorber shared this shot earlier this morning when the car was still stuck in the restaurant.

Drone photos were later shared with Patch by Daggett Property inspections (shown above the article). These images show the SUV has been removed from the scene as inspectors begin to assess the damage. The village of Homewood building department is in charge of the damage assessment.

The Dairy Queen will be closed until further notice.
