Jamal Shepard, 21, of the 18100 block of Baker Avenue, Country Club Hills, was arrested and charged with forgery and resisting a peace officer after trying to cash a bogus check for more than $5,000, according to Homewood police reports.

Shepard tried to cash a check for $5,500 at about 11:30 a.m. Aug. 25, at TCF National Bank, 3153 W. 183rd St., the report stated. Bank officials alerted police about the pending transaction, and a background check revealed the check was false, the report added.

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

Zachary Diagre, 26, of the 3500 block of Marseilles Lane, Hazel Crest, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, driving with a suspended license and driving without a working rear registration light after an Aug. 24 traffic stop, according to Homewood police reports.

Police pulled over Diagre at about 9:59 p.m, traveling westbound near 183rd Street and California Avenue, the report stated. He was stopped for having a rear registration light that wasn’t working, the report added.

During the stop, a background check revealed Diagre’s license had been suspended, the report stated. A search of his car uncovered an uncased and loaded Springfield XD-40 handgun, the report added.
