Vikings United Basketball

Off to A Good Start

By TeamUp (Patch Partner)

The 2015-2016 Vikings United Basketball Season is history in the books as the program’s inaugural season comes to a close. The Vikings United feeder program was developed by TEAM UP founders Excell Hardy and Brian Nussbaum in partnership with Homewood-Flossmoor High School (HFHS) and targets youth that reside in the district. The focus of the feeder program is to provide additional support of HFHS’ commitment to developing well rounded student athletes.

“We are truly grateful and appreciative of the continued support the HFHS Athletic Department has shown us this past year. Marc Condotti (Varsity Head Boys Basketball Coach) and Dan Vosnos (Athletic Director) have both played a huge role in lending a helping hand to ensure that our staff had the resources necessary to execute and add value to the kids in our program.” – Excell Hardy

The Vikings United Basketball inaugural season featured over 45 participants (listed below) this year all split between a total of four teams. This year Vikings United had two 8th grade teams led by Excell Hardy (H-F Class of 2004) and Brian Nussbaum Hardy (H-F Class of 2004) and two 7th grade teams led by Coach Arthur Smith and James Jackson (H-F Class of 2007). Each team participated in over 30 games between November 2015 and March 2016 throughout the Chicagoland area, Indiana and Wisconsin. With the continued support of the community and volunteers, the goal is to add a 6th Grade team for the 2016-2017 season allowing the program to extend its support to a younger generation of future Vikings.

"The incredible work ethic and commitment shown by all the players, parents, staff and community in the inaugural season of the Vikings United Boys Basketball program provided an amazing foundation from which to build off of for years to come. After this inaugural season, I have no doubt in my mind the Vikings United Boys Basketball feeder program will be an incredibly beneficial venture for all of the players and their future teachers and coaches at Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The sky is truly the limit and I am honored to be a part of it." – Brian Nussbaum
