Public Works crews have been mobilized across the community since early Wednesday morning, cleaning debris, collecting excess brush and assessing damages following Tuesday's storm. Cleanup will include cutting down hanging branches in parkway trees and collecting downed limbs in the street or parkway. Because Flossmoor was one of the hardest hit communities in last night's storm, we are asking residents to also assist in clearing drains, debris and tree branches in their yards.
Cleanup will continue for the remainder of the week including street sweeping. Please avoid parking on Village streets in the coming days to allow for an efficient street sweeping process.

Reporting Tree Damage
Damage to parkway trees can be reported to the Flossmoor Public Works Department at (708) 957-4100.
If you have significant damage to a tree not in the parkway, you will need to call a private contractor, landscaper or tree removal company. An extra, special brush collection will take place on Monday, August 30 starting at 7 a.m. due to the excessive Village-wide tree damage.
ComEd Power Outages
Nearly 1,000 Flossmoor customers lost power during last night's storm, but ComEd has confirmed that the Village is currently at about 87 percent restored. Full power restoration may be slightly delayed since downed trees were a contributing factor and a ComEd tree crew will need to asses those cases before power can be restored.
Brush Collection
As a reminder, homeowners will still need to follow the Village's brush collection requirements for the special collection on August 30.
Branches must be stacked in a pile on the parkway, with cut ends facing the curb, and placed away from parkway trees, mailboxes, utility poles/boxes, sidewalks, and hydrants.
Village Hall Cooling Center
With continued high temperatures expected for the remainder of the week, the Village wants to remind residents that the Village of Flossmoor Police Department lobby serves as a cooling center in the event of extreme weather. Masks are required for all visitors.
