Windy City Thunderbolts Celebrate Opening Week With $1.25 Beer and Fireworks

You can't beat fun at the old ball park. Windy City ThunderBolts kicks off their 20th season May 14-16.

Spring is here and so is minor league baseball as the Windy City ThunderBolts kick off their 20th season this weekend with great promotions and giveaways. Come out Thursday as the Bolts take on the 2014 and 2015 Frontier League Champions, the Schaumburg Boomers, starting at 6:05 p.m.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans will receive a 2015 magnetic schedule courtesy of Standard Bank.

Opening night is also “Thirsty Thursday” with domestic draft beers going for $1.25 and domestic cans for $2.25, so bring your appetite for Bud Light. After the game get set for a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by Lakeshore Beverage.

The first weekend homestand of the season gets under way at 7:05 p.m. Friday, May 15, as the Bolts battle the Frontier Greys for Fill R’ Up Friday, courtesy of Budweiser with $1,25 domestic draft beers and $2.25 domestic cans. After the game, all the kids can run the bases.

The final game of the homestand is Saturday, May 16, against the Frontier Greys starting at 6:05 pm. Saturday is also Armed Forces Day. The ThunderBolts are offering two free tickets to service members, both past and present, with valid ID. After the game, stock around for the fireworks sponsored by Elegant Limousine.
