Woman Fatally Hit By Metra Train In Homewood
Officials say the train wasn't scheduled to stop at the Homewood station as no passengers were aboard.

HOMEWOOD, IL — A woman was hit and killed Tuesday by a Metra Electric District train at the Homewood station, agency officials said. The Sun-Times reported the 52-year-old pedestrian was hit around 6 p.m. by outbound train No. 603 at the south suburban location, just near the intersection of Ridge Road and Harwood Avenue, according to Metra Spokesman Tom Miller.
Miller said there were no passengers on the train when it hit the woman, and the train wasn't scheduled to stop at the Homewood station as it made its final stop before that at the downtown Millennium station.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the fatal incident caused some delays for more than an hour.
