Woman Killed, 3 Firefighters Injured In Blaze At Calumet City Complex

The fire started on the second floor, and radiated up to the seventh floor and roof of the 312-unit complex, according to reports.

CALUMET CITY, IL — A woman died and seven people were injured in connection with a fire at a residential building in Calumet City, according to reports.

Firefighters were notified about 7 p.m. Monday of the blaze at 200 Park Avenue in a 312-unit complex, Chief Glenn Bachert told WGN TV in a Facebook Live video. The fire started on the second floor, and radiated up to the seventh floor and roof, Bachert said, adding the blaze was still active in the attic around 10 p.m.

The woman who died lived in the complex and was injured on the seventh floor, FOX 32 reported, noting three firefighters and four tenants were brought to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.
