Woman Sues Homewood Nursing Home for Negligence
A woman claims that the nursing facility failed to properly care for infected sores that led to her mother's death.

A Cook County woman is suing a nursing facility in Homewood for the wrongful death of her mother.
Mary Tyus claims that her mother, Ruthie Tyus, died because of negligent care she received as a patient of Manor Care of Homewood Illinois and The Ingalls Memorial Hospital, reported the Cook County Record. Tyus filed suit against Manor Care and Ingalls Memorial in Cook County Court on Nov 3.
In the lawsuit Tyus claims that the medical staff at the facilities failed to properly treat pressure sores that her mother developed while living at the facilities from December 2013 to February 2014, reported The Record. The sores became infected and eventually caused sepsis, which led to the death of Tyus’ mother in April 2014.
