Grand Master Ok Hyung Kim introduced the martial art to the U.S. in 1967 and went on to found the American Kyuki-do Federation. Grand Master Kim is the head of the federation and Master Thiel has taken classes under him.
“Kyuki-Do combines the best aspects of the martial arts,” Master Thiel said. “It also includes aspects of Jujitsu, Karate, boxing, wrestling and many other styles.”
Master Thiel said that martial arts are excellent forms of self defense. More than that, she said studying martial arts has physical and mental benefits.
“Students learn self control, discipline and confidence,” she said. “We train men, women and children of all ages. Martial arts can truly make a big difference in someone’s life.”
