Ryan Craig wins 32nd Chick Evans Jr. Amateur Championship
Huntley's Craig captures IJGA Chick Evans Jr. Amateur Championship
Ryan Craig captured the 32nd Chick Evans Jr. Amateur Championship by defeating Matt Fazio of West Chicago 4&3 in the championship match.
Ryan, who will be a senior at Huntley High School, qualified for the event by winning the Golf Club of Illinois qualifier on July 17th shooting a 4-under par 67.
Ryan joined a field of 157 other golfers for two days of stroke play with the top 32 advancing to the match play championship bracket. Ryan shot a 2-under par 70 on day 1 and followed that with a 4-over 76 on day 2 to grab the 9th seed.

The marathon of golf continued with the match play starting on day 3. On the first day of match play Ryan defeated Ned Rohrbach of Glencoe (5&4) and then Jonathan Goldstein of Northbrook (1 up) to advance to the Quarterfinals.
On day 4, Ryan defeated Kenneth Li of Westmont (2 up) and then Orion Yamat of Niles (1 up) to advance to the championship match against Fazio the 14th seed.
