Thank you 2012 Relay for Life of Northern Fox Valley Relayers & Sponsers
2012 Relay for Life comes to a close
Well, it's just after 8 a.m. on June 16. We held our closing ceremony for 2012 RFL of NFV at 6 a.m. after a wonderful 12 hour walk.
We had 29 Relay teams this year which is 11 more than in 2011. It was so great to see our numbers had grown.
A great big thank you goes out to the Huntley Park District for hosting this event once again. They are such an important part of what makes our Relay a success. Of course, without our teams and their fundraising efforts, Relay wouldn't be possible. So Thank you, thank you!!

Each year, as we start setting up for Relay (yesterday at 9:30 a.m.), we wonder how we'll ever make it up all night. But, somehow we do. Over 220 registered participants began arriving at 3:30 p.m. to set up their campsites.
Our registered cancer survivors were treated to dinner, courtesy of Rosati's of Huntley just prior to our opening ceremony. Then, we celebrated our cancer survivors as they walked the first lap around the track.

We had lots of activities throughout the night to help keep our Relayers awake too. 5-Hour energy drink had representatives out giving free samples, PopChips, Peapod, Sobe and Dean Foods all donated food items. Culver's sent Scoopie and italian ice too!
Just before our closing ceremony at 6 a.m. (12 hours after our opening ceremony), Ivette Garven (info@zumbawith ivette.com) led some of us in Zumba. My first time doing Zumba and I just couldn't last more than 20 minutes. Wow!
Our efforts certainly paid off. Our 222 registered participants raised over $45,000! Way to go everyone!!!!!
