Huntley Earns High Marks for Financial Reporting

Village received award for fully disclosing its reports.

An annual financial report is not light reading, but the village of Huntley has made its reports user-friendly and available online to residents.

Officials’ efforts to disclose the village’s finances earned a prestigious auditing award.

Auditor Frederick Lantz on Thursday night presented the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for Huntley’s 2009 financial report.

An independent board of auditors from across the country reviewed the report. It is Huntley’s eighth time receiving the award.

Huntley also received an “unqualified” or clean audit for its 2010 report. Lantz said only 1 in 20 Illinois municipalities receive a clean audit, making it among “the elite.”
