“The issue of smart meters is a big topic right now,” Mulhall said.

For more than a year, the Tea Party of Naperville has been leading an effort to prevent the city from imposing smart meters on all electric power users of the community, Mulhall said. The group’s research has provided details on “the privacy, health, safety and other consequences of installing smart meters in our area,” she said.

Mulhall said the Huntley Tea Party formed about two years ago, and has approximately 200 members.
