Huntley Village Board Gets Update on First Quarter Finances

Village's finances sound in first part of 2012, officials said.

Huntley’s finances are doing well, with building permits up and expenditures down, in the first part of the year, officials said.

Village Manager Dave Johnson gave trustees an update of the first-quarter finances at Thursday’s committee of the whole meeting, painting a good financial picture.

“First-quarter activity is somewhat challenging,” Johnson said. Activity is cyclical in nature when it comes to property taxes and large revenue source, he added.

But village departments have kept expenses within or below budgets to date, he said. For example, the water operating fund is 7.8 percent less than budgeted through the end of the first quarter, he said.

Building permits have been higher than anticipated, Johnson said. Through April 2011, Huntley issued 40 permits. Through April 2012, the village issued 25 and 14 other applications being processed.

“Good job reporting,” Mayor Charles Sass said.

In other business:

Huntley trustees are expected to approve additional Phase II design services for the full interchange at Interstate 90 and Route 47 at a cost of $98,000. Johnson said that additional work must be completed for the project. .
