Huntley Wants Your Opinion

Huntley residents invited to fill out survey to give village an idea of what's important to them.

If you did not like the way your streets were plowed or want to see Huntley host a Christmas parade, you have a chance to let the village know your opinion with an online survey being taken now.

The 2011 survey is available online at the village’s website until July 31. This is the second year the village has conducted such a survey.

“The survey is a method of communicating with our residents,” Trustee Harry Leopold said. “It’s been very helpful in the past. Some of the ideas (from the) survey were factored into our downtown revitalization plan.”

Village staff developed the survey as part of Huntley’s strategic planning process, Village Manager Dave Johnson said. Last year, there were 617 responses; so far this year there have been 688 responses.

“It helps us understand what the residents view as important items, whether it’s downtown revitalization to the importance of the Route 47 widening project to the interchange project,” Johnson said. “It gives us information to look at in terms of what our constituents think is important.”

The survey also helps the village determine how well it is delivering services. Last year, the survey showed 70 percent of those responding have a high overall satisfaction with general services provided by the village, Johnson said.

Other topics that rated high: quality of life and community events, he said.

Leopold said residents also liked the village’s weekly email newsletter.

The results of the survey will be available by mid-August, and the board will review the survey.
