Kreutzer Road Closing Scheduled
The roadway will be closed later this month for railroad crossing work.

If you thought construction on Route 47 couldn’t get worse, just wait.
Kreutzer Road will be closed from Sept. 26-30 for railroad improvements on the Union Pacific Railroad. Drivers who have been using Kreutzer Road as a shortcut around construction will be forced back onto Route 47.
“We understand it will be inconvenient, but we need to do it for the safety of the motoring public,” Village Manager Dave Johnson said.

Huntley officials will be getting out information about the closing and notification signs will go up next week and detour signs will go up a few hours before the road is closed, officials said.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid excessive backups on Route 47, Johnson said. The village will work with Consolicated School District 158 to reroute buses that week, he said.

Last year, Route 47 was shut down for three days for railroad work and the traffic was managed well, he said.
“If we survived Route 47 being shut down, we will certainly survive the Kreutzer shut down,” Johnson said.
