Minds in Motion 5K Run/Walk Raises Awareness of Mental Illness

Minds in Motion 5K Run/Walk is raising money and awareness for mental illness this weekend.

The Psychology Club at Huntley High School (HHS) invites community members of all ages to participate in the 2nd Annual Minds in Motion 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m., Sunday, May 20 on the Square Barn Road Campus (Academic Drive in Algonquin).

The cost of the event is $20 per person; children 12 and under are $10 each.

Minds in Motion event provides an opportunity to raise awareness of mental illness through education and discussion while promoting a healthy lifestyle for the mind and body, organizers said.

Last year, the 5K run/walk raised $3,500. The proceeds were donated to Centegra Behavioral Health Services. This year, funds raised will benefit Centegra and the newly formed to continue the chain reaction of kindness and compassion.
