Sun City's New Fountain View Center Opens Saturday

Sun City holds grand opening of new facility, which includes chamber ribbon cutting ceremony.

Sun City residents will have more room to dance, sing, mingle and meet with the opening of the new Fountain View Center.

The grand opening for the Fountain View Center is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Representatives from the Huntley Chamber of Commerce will be on hand for a formal ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:15 a.m.

The 2,740-square-foot center is located in the Sun City Prairie Lodge, 12940 Del Webb Blvd., Huntley.

The new offices, meeting rooms and multi-purpose rooms formerly were occupied by Pulte sales representatives. Now the space will be used by the various Sun City charter clubs, neighborhood groups and organizations in any fashion needed, Sun City officials said.

The additional space also will allow more vendors to participate in Sun City’s spring and fall showcase events.

Normally, the Prairie Lodge accommodated 121 vendors, forcing showcase organizers to form a waiting list, said Bob Laird, advertising sales representative for the showcase and Sun City Community Association.

Last fall, about 3,000 people attended the showcase. Fountain View Center will allow more vendors and visitors.

Renovations of the Fountain View Center began last April, according to Sun City officials.

The new floor plan has two large rooms, which each can be divided into three smaller rooms using solid dividers. The two large rooms themselves can also be combined into one even larger space by opening dividers.

The center offers a warming room for food and extra storage space. The existing atrium, once filled with Pulte building plans and models, has already been cleared out and refurnished with comfortable furniture near the fireplace.

Visitors who attend the grand opening ceremony on Saturday can take a tour of the new facility. Also, coffee and light snacks will be served, according to organizers.
