Old Huntley Village Hall Gets Fresh Look, New Tenants
Chamber of Commerce has relocated to historic Village Hall.

The Huntley Chamber of Commerce is the new tenant at the old Huntley Village hall.
The chamber moved its new offices to 11704 Coral St. and is open for business. Previously the chamber was located in the park district building.
Economic Development Director Margo Griffin said other renovations to the old Village Hall include tuck-pointing the façade, roof repairs, new doors, tile, and light fixtures. The structure was built in 1939 at a cost of $8,900, according to the Huntley Area Public Library Local History Department and the Huntley Historic Preservation Commission.

At one time, the building housed the fire department and the local jail.
The building’s historic look is preserved but refreshed now, Griffin said, adding that the public works maintenance staff did the work to keep the project affordable.

“We love having the chamber here,” Griffin said. “They are a wonderful partner with the village of Huntley and it is a perfect fit for them to be in the downtown area, to show that there is activity there.”
The location is ideal for the chamber, since the organization’s purposes include promoting local businesses and bringing more jobs and prosperity to the community, said chamber Chairman David Veath. The downtown area gives members – and recruits – a perspective of the business traffic.
“It’s a great move for the chamber,” Veath said. “We had a great relationship with the park district when we were there, but now being down on the square is just our own home now, it’s not just a building.”
Veath said community members have responded well to the move, too.
“A lot of people are stopping by, and with our Saturday on the Square event, the chamber board members take turns, and we get to meet people as they come in,” Veath said. “People ask about joining the chamber and the board is there to showcase their particular business at the same time.”
