Raider Way Outstanding Students: Geheren and Stepp

Huntley High School names junior Michael Geheren and senior Olivia Stepp as 'Raider Way Outstanding' students of the month.

Huntley High School junior Michael Geheren and senior Olivia Stepp were selected as recipients of the Jurs/Raider Way Outstanding Students of the Month Award for October.

Geheren was nominated by HHS staff members Gerry Marchand and Dennis Brown.

Described as showing singular dedication to the launching of the Voice website, Geheren spent countless hours creating and improving the website and continues to spend his personal time maintaining the website, according to Lorie Woods, District 158 community relations coordinator.

“Michael is a student with a dedication to journalism, which is unique and very valuable to students and community members. In addition, Michael also volunteers for Big Brothers/Big Sisters,” Woods stated a press release.

Stepp was nominated by Tom George.

Stepp is described as an excellent student who also is co-captain for the speech team at Huntley High School, located at 13719 Harmony Rd., Huntley.

“She is a talented performer and talented writer, which helps her in class as well as on the speech team,” Woods said in the release.

“Olivia takes her leadership role very seriously and leads through example. She has worked at the Fine Arts Market Day, and completes community service projects through National Honor Society. She also is a valued coach and mentor for new speech team members.”

Huntley High students are nominated for the Raider Way Outstanding Student of the Month Award by staff members for exhibiting qualities of the Red Raider Way: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Involved.
