Red Raider Soccer Dominates Woodstock North
Manczko scores four and Wronski adds three goals in 8-0 win.
Huntley’s girls’ soccer team is one of the best teams in the country according to many experts, being ranked in the top ten by many publications.
On Tuesday at Woodstock North, the Red Raiders showed their dominance with an 8-0 win over the Thunder. Huntley (3-0) started quickly on two goals by Kelly Manczko and added a third goal in the first half on a penalty kick by Aimee Wronski. The second half was more of the same as Manczko scored her third and fourth goals of the day followed by two more goals by Wronski. Ashley Schorr scored the final goal of the game for the Red Raiders, who did not allow a single shot on goal all afternoon. While it is a big win on the scoreboard, coach Kris Grabner was not as pleased.
“I didn’t think they came prepared to play soccer tonight,” Grabner said. “I thought the warm-up was very insufficient, just the focus they had. They came out before the game and made a go at them. The first ten minutes, they came out flying but the technical side wasn’t there because they were unprepared. I thought the effort was good but when you are ranked, everyone puts a target on you and comes after you. If you are not ready, you are going to get knocked off.”

Grabner was happier with the efforts goal-scoring especially from Manczko.
“I thought Kelly did a real nice job up there. She is normally a midfielder, plays defense,” Grabner said. “I think she gives us a great look up top, she hits a great ball. She scored some nice goals today and put the ball in the net when we needed it.”
