Snow Expected During Morning Commute; Winter Weather Advisory Issued
Between one to three inches is expected β with up to four inches in some areas possible.
Snow is expected this morning for much of the Chicago area.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for McHenry, Lake, DuPage, Cook, Kendall and Will counties from 5 a.m. until noon Wednesday.Β
Snow is expected to affect areas along and north of Interstate 80 just prior to and during the morning commute, according to the NWS. Snowfall rates of a 1/2-inch to one-inch per hours is possibleΒ for two to four hours. Snowfall rates could be heavier at times.Β
AΒ total of one to three inches of snow isΒ expected with four inches possible in some areas.Β
Since theΒ bulk of the snow is expected to fall during the morning commute, the NWS is expecting the mainΒ impact to be snow-covered roads and slow and hazardous travel. Low visibility is also possible.Β
