3 File Petitions To Challenge Hairston In 2019 5th Ward Election

5th Ward candidates in the 2019 city of Chicago election are Leslie Hairston, Gabriel Piemonte, William Calloway and Shelly Quiles.

CHICAGO - Four people have filed petitions to get their names on the ballot in the 2019 5th Ward City of Chicago aldermanic election.

The incumbent, Leslie A. Hairston, filed her petitions at 9 a.m. on Nov. 19.

Three possible challengers have also filed petitions. William Calloway, Gabriel Piemonte and Shelly Quiles all filed theirs at 5 p.m. on Nov. 26.

The unofficial candidate list for all city of Chicago elections was released here on Tuesday.

The deadline for candidates to file petitions in all city races was Monday.

The Chicago primary is Feb. 26, 2019. To avoid a runoff, which would occur on April 2, 2019, candidates must win 50+1, meaning candidates must get 50 percent of the vote, plus 1.
