Barack Obama Returns To Chicago For 1st Time Since Leaving Office
The former president was in town Wednesday to discuss the creation of his new center in Jackson Park.

CHICAGO, IL — Former President Barack Obama returned to the city this week for the first time since leaving office last month, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Obama was in Chicago on Wednesday to meet about the creation of the Obama Center, which will house the former chief executive's presidential library, the report stated. The center, which will also contain a museum and events complex, is planned to be built in Jackson Park on the South Side.
On Wednesday, Obama met with officials from his foundation, which is behind the center, at its Hyde Park offices, the report stated. He also met with organizers of the fundraising effort that will help generate the millions of dollars needed for the center's creation, the report added.

Obama had not been to Chicago since his Jan. 10 farewell address at McCormick Place. He and former First Lady Michelle Obama will remain in Washington, D.C., to allow their daughters to finish high school there.

Michelle Obama did not accompany the former president on his Chicago trip, the Sun-Times reports. He is expected to return to Chicago on Thursday.
