Employee Robbed At Gunpoint On 53rd Street

CHICAGO, IL – A 69-year-old female employee of a business in the 1000 block of East 53rd Street was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday afternoon. University of Chicago police say that an "unknown suspect" entered an off-campus business at 3:15 p.m. The offender, a man with no further description, displayed a handgun and took money from the store's cash register before fleeing on foot.

A cleaning business operates at the location indicated by police, according to the most recent Google Maps update.

The victim was not injured, University police said before turning the investigation over to the Chicago Police Department.
