Governor Candidates Invited To Debate Criminal Justice Reform

Hopefuls in the 2018 Illinois Governor's race have been invited to a Hyde Park church to discuss criminal justice reform.

CHICAGO, IL - Several candidates in the 2018 Illinois Gubernatorial race have been invited to the city's Hyde Park neighborhood Wednesday night for a forum centered on criminal justice reform. The First Unitarian Church of Chicago, located at 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave., will host the forum from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Democratic candidates Daniel Biss, JB Pritzker, Bob Daiber, Chris Kennedy, Tio Hardiman and Robert Marshall - as well as Republican hopefuls incumbent Bruce Rauner and Jeanne Ives have been invited to the forum, a promotional flyer for the event from the Executive Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Multiracial Unity Action Caucus indicates. If some candidates are unable to attend, they may send a representative to speak for them.

The topic is “The Arc of Criminal Justice and Criminal Justice Reform – from Pre-Criminalization to Post-Incarceration.” Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
