Light Pole Fall Injures Teen Girl in Hyde Park

The 16-year-old suffered a leg fracture when the pole came down on Lake Park Ave. Monday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - A city light pole fell on three students in Hyde Park Monday morning, seriously injuring one.

A 16-year-old girl was pinned underneath the pole in the 5200 block of South Lake Park Ave. around 11 a.m., according to the Chicago Sun-Times. She was saved by a group of bystanders who worked to pull it off. She is recovering from a leg fracture at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The two other students suffered minor injuries and were taken to Comer Children’s Hospital as a precaution.
