Lyft Driver's Gun Stolen In Hyde Park Carjacking

Three passengers beat up a Lyft driver and stole his gun during a Sunday afternoon carjacking in Hyde Park.

CHICAGO, IL - A Lyft driver was carjacked and had his gun stolen Sunday afternoon in Hyde Park. University of Chicago police have turned the case that originated in the 5400 block of South Kenwood Avenue to the Chicago Police Department, according to a UCPD crime bulletin.

Three passengers in a Lyft vehicle, a 2011 4-door Ford, struck the driver with their fists and took a handgun he had on him before fleeing in the car.

The driver is a licensed concealed-carry gun owner. He was treated by paramedics at the scene but refused additional medical care, according to police.
