Obama Commutes Prison Sentences for 3 Chicago Drug Dealers

Three people from Chicago were among 214 who saw their prison sentences reduced Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, DC - Three Chicago men were among the 214 people who saw their prison sentences commuted by President Barack Obama on Wednesday.

Kenneth Choice was sentenced in 1999 to life imprisonment - a sentence that was amended to 324 months imprisonment - after being convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver narcotics and possession with intent to deliver narcotics. Obama decided his sentence will expire on December 1 of this year.

Will A. Goines, Jr. was sentenced to 240 months imprisonment with ten years of supervised release in 2010 for three counts of distribution of crack cocaine. Obama cut his sentence in half.

Martin Souza, who received a life sentence in 199 for conspiracy with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine in Ohio, will now see his sentence expire on Aug. 3, 2017.
