Woman Dies In Hyde Park Apartment Fire

A fire on the seventh floor of a building on Cornell Avenue caused the death of a woman.

CHICAGO, IL - An early morning fire at an apartment building in Hyde Park took the life of a woman who was found dead on a couch in a living room, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times. The fire was contained to the seventh floor of the structure in the 5400 block of South Cornell Avenue and did not displace any other residents.

The woman's identity was not immediately available, but fire officials told the Sun-Times she is thought to be in here 60s. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the fire that was reported just before 5 a.m. Thursday.
