Woodlawn Man Charged With Murder in Stabbing Death

Jacob Shelton is accused of fatally stabbing a 45-year-old man in the chest during an argument Sunday.

CHICAGO, IL — A Woodlawn man has been charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 45-year-old man Sunday morning, according to police.

Jacob Shelton, 37, was charged with first-degree murder. He's scheduled to appear in bond court Tuesday.

At about 8:19 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, Shelton got into an argument with another man — identified as Lucius Delaney by the Chicago Tribune — in the 6600 block of South Vernon Avenue, according to the police report. During the argument, Shelton stabbed Delaney in the chest with a knife, police said.

Delaney was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Shelton was taken into custody and charged.
