One man has been arrested after a pair of burglars robbed HomeCut Donuts, The Herald-News reports.
Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner told The Herald-News that employees called police at 1:59 a.m. Tuesday after two men came in and demanded money. One had a hand gun.
Officers arrived within seconds and learned the subjects had run out the back door and jumped into a silver car that drove through the alley and headed north on Prairie,” Roechner said.

When a description of the vehicle was broadcast, an officer on patrol near Evergreen Terrace saw a silver Nissan Altima speed past him and pull into the lot behind 363 N. Broadway.
“Officers found the car had the cash register drawer and money from the doughnut shop in the backseat,” Roechner said.

Police reviewed surveillance video at the public housing complex to see two men run inside from the vehicle, one still carrying the gun, Roechner said.
Ryan A. Banks, 19, allegedly tried to “walk casually past officers in the vestibule of the building, but was identified as the armed subject from the video, Roechner told The Herald-News.
Banks was arrested on a charge of armed robbery and booked into the Will County jail. The other suspect was still being sought. Roechner said the investigation remained active Wednesday afternoon.
